Kumiko SHIMOYAMA

Co-founder & HR Planner
An HR professional with over 20 years of experience. She spent 12 years in HR and communications at the Recruit Group, a global HR and technology company — leading recruitment, training, evaluation, and HR system design, including four years as a manager bridging the front line and leadership. She then worked as an HR Business Partner (HRBP) at a global pharmaceutical company, rebuilding the HR function to connect the front line with management. As an independent HR planner, she has supported HR strategy and organizational development at a major advertising company and in the public sector.
She believes HR systems succeed less by their design than by whether they can be used — and sustained — on the ground. That conviction led her to co-found Hatarakuhitoto.
Tsuyoshi HORITA

Tsuyoshi HORITA

Co-founder & Certified Public Psychologist
(Japan's national psychology qualification)
He spent 14 years supporting corporate management through accounting and management control, including at the Recruit Group, a global HR and technology company. Sensing the limits of managing by numbers alone, he built and led an organizational development team as a manager, working directly on how people and organizations grow together.
That experience drew him to psychology. He earned a Master of Psychology in clinical psychology and qualified as a Certified Public Psychologist — Japan's national psychology qualification. Today, while also affiliated with an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) firm, he addresses the hard-to-see issues between people and the workplace from both psychological and organizational angles.Because the challenges around work span both organizations and individuals, he believes two things must move together: putting systems in order, and staying close to the individual. He co-founded Hatarakuhitoto to do exactly that.
